Mr. Akin will charge such fee a are
usual in such case. The eourt takes
the very reasonable ground that much
time and money of the tax payer will
lie saved by this arrangement, since it
not Infrequently happens that all ex
prns.'s incklent to review and 'survey
are incurred before the pa iter reach
the olllce of the district attorney, where
they mi found, and declared to be
entirely Inadequate, under the code, and
are held for naught, all primary ex
pene being absolutely wasted In the
premise.
In the matter of the extension of the
Astoria Nelutem highway, for which
et It km has been duly tiled and whk-h
was warmly supported a few dy agv
by a number of 'prominent A.toria
cititcn. before the court, no delliilt
conclusion was reached yesterday, ow
ing to the absence of Commissioner
Clark. The matter will oome up esaiu
today. It em th court on It last
vi-it to the section of the road and
country where the extension is desired
candidly advised the peopl thereabout
to apply their special road monies on
the main Nehalem road Instead of on
the laterals, or community road, thus
keeping the big thoroughfare in at least
passable condition through the winter.
This wa not done, however, the money
going to better equip the lateral. The
court will reach a conclusion In the
premise today, or flx dy In the
present month for finally determining
the matter at Issue.
