Eigh teen miner lost their lives in an ex plosion late last night in the Diamond Coal & Coke Company's mine. It ia believed all the men who perished yere instantly killed. What caused tbe dis aster is not definitely known but the theory advanced by the miners is that a "blow out" shot caused the dust to explode. The force of the explosion was felt all over town, rocking the buildings so violently that the occupant ran from them. This is the second disaster, of the Diamond mine. February 26, 1901, thirty-two miners perished.
