Scully is doing a clever piece of work In starting, and maintaining, a scrap-book of Astoria, It look to the superficial observer, as though it might amount to nothing more than a mere personal, pleasant whim with him, but in the years to come, when be and his young colleagues of today are middle aged men, it will be of exceeding value and interest, to scan these page for reminiscent history of people, event, and circumstance that will be forgot ten, or at best, vaguely remembered; and if forgotten, it will serve to revive memories that will prove grateful at all times. The book aa it is being com piled, will be quite consecutive in dates, as he la culling everything aa It bap pens and entering them m sequence, and as one thing leads to another, his pic tures, Items of news, descriptions of .persons and places ami Lap palling,, will each serve to recall something else that occuiTed at or about the same time, so the use of tho volume will be very far reaching. Dell is a success! ul "scrap- VIT1I REPUBLICANS Two Utters of Semi-Political Signifctnce Arrive.
