The National Asso ciation of pension examining surgeons has convened here for a two days' ses sion with 123 pension examiners, rep resenting 4,500 members of the pension boards in attendance. In order to iurther the movement to ward doing away with whatever froc- tion exists between the pension board and the pension authorities at Wash ington, Dr. Sara Houston, referee of the pension bureau, was invited to attend the convention. The convention will be devoted largely to the reading of papers of diseases pe culiar to the old soldiers. ... News has just been received here that two con victs were shot at the state prison at Folsom last Monday for stepping out side the line while being marched into! the orison in the evening. Kaeh man; received a bullet wound in the leg and both are in the prison hospital. The men will recover.
