were the victors, making the run of
200 yards in 24 2-5 seconds. Oregon City
came in second. This race is known aa

Lineman Killed By Live Wire,
Laughed at Danger.
Sea Cliff, Long Island, July 5. Five
minutes after he had boasted that no
live wire would ever burn him, Thomas
Monahan. a lineman in the employ of
the Xassau Light company, waa killed
on Sea Cliff avenue this afternoon.
While he was unscrewing a meter and
disconnecting it the woman in whose
house it was remarked upon the danger
he, ran. Monohan remarked, "Oh. I
never give those wires a chance to hurt
me."
After finishing inside Monohan climb
ed a pole near by. The man on the
ground heard a crackling above and saw
Monohan lying acrosa the wires, with
smoke coming from hia clothing and
flesh. Ihe helper ran to another pole
and turned off the power. Monohan's
body dropped to the ground, badly burn
ed and charred.
