May It Edward Perkerz waa arreted this morning chargeJ with the murder of Mrs. Sarah Rob enberg whose body was found In her flat at 332 East lOlat street, Manhat tan last Saturday. Perkerz was taken to police headquarters and confessed. saying that he committed the murder for the purpose of robbery. Perkerz was a harnessmaker and boarded wjth the woman. He said he first struck her over the bead with a hammer, rendering her unconscious. After wait ing several minutes and seeing that the blow did not caues death, he slashed her throat with a big knife. He then robbed her of $12. Among the wo man's personal effects the police found two bank books, each showing a credit of S1000. Perkerx was arrested as he wa leaving the room, which he has occu Died since the rrturder. He was going out in search of work In order to get enough money to pay his passage to Rurone. He has only been in the country since January. Perkers Is degenerate looking man evidently 27 years old. and the police were afraid he would rrow violent. He said he had a good time with the money he stole from his victim.
