Reed of Kile. uppoed to be a millionaire, wna declared bankrupt by Judge BufTlngton In the United Slate dlHtrlfe court today. Reed' llnbllltle are nearly $1,000,000. $300,000 of which I ecured by mortgagee on railroad and mining property In Baker county, Oregon. Peelde thee mortgage cred- ltor, there are claim amounting to $600,000. These latter creditor ome time ago secured an Injunction re straining the mortgage creditors from disposing of the property of Reed, and a motion wa heard yesterday to dis solve the Injunction. Judge BufTlng ton decided to continue It until Febru ary 6 to give an opportunity to settle the affair of the bankrupt, after which the Injunction will be dissolved with out further order of court. 8UGAR CA8E UP. Sevan Years' Litigation la to B Re opened. New York. Dec. 21 It la atated that the famous sugar duty rebate caae re cently decided against the Importers by the supreme court la to be re opened. This was a test case and had been fought through all the courts, occupy ing aeven yeara In reaching a final ruling. The new plan la to attack the constitutionality of the treasury de partment' practice, which the Import- era any, amounts to the assumption of a right to Increase the duty at will. The case will go first to the board of United Stales general appraisers, then to the circuit court, and finally to the supreme court of the United States. Parker who Is under arrest here on tha charge of forging the name of the Cin cinnati Trust Company'a cashier to a certificate and passing the same on the Third National bank of PL Louts, Is evidently a badly wanted man. Word has Just been received from the offi cers at Sedalla, Mo., to the effect that he Is wanted there for forgery. Parker Is also wanted In Pueblo and in this city.
