York Over Ownership
of a Dollar.
New York. Sept. 6. Three Italian
have been badly wounded In a battle
with knives fought In a tenement court
yard on Mott iitreet. Two of. the
wounded men were thrust Into an am-
bulance and, while the attendants were
busy outside, resumed the fight, with
their knives. The battle. In which a
score of Italians and Sicilians were
Involved, arose over the possession of
a dollar bill. Tries of the fighters
brought several detectives to the scene
and they drove otf the mob with re
volvers. Two men lay helpless on the
ground and an ambulance was sum
moned. The third victim was ordered
taken to the police station, his wound
not being serious. While peace was
being restored a hubbub arose In the
ambulance and the two occupants were
found In a death struggle. By the time
Vice-Admiral Avellan
they had been disarmed and subdued
both were so badly wounled that they
probably will die.
In the Havana Senate.
New York, Sept. B. A quorum of
the senate assembled Monday and ap
proved the minutes of the last ses
sion,' says a Tribune dispatch from Ha
vana. Senator Cisneros protested
against the action on the ground that
it was unconstitutional.
The report of a committee against
the export of material used iri coun
terfeiting Cuban tobacco bales also was
adopted. Bills for extradition with the
United States and for Immigration
measures were tabled.
The serious trouble with the aphor
isms of Judge Parker Is that a dia
