The Northern Pacific Railway Com pany will place round trip tickets from Portland to St. Louis and return on account of the world's fair on Sale a follows: 8pt 6th, 6th srH 7th. Alexander Dix on, a 12-year-old lad, has been driven Into the Bronx river and drowned by a swarm of hornets. The boy, with several companions, had stoned a hor nets' nest until the little Insects came out In swarms and chased the boys toward the river. Dixon stumbled and fell Into the water. The hornets hovered about, stinging him viciously when he came to the surface. The other boys fled In ter ror and did not return until Dixon hud tx-en drowned. Notice to laxpsysrs. The butt one launched was built by the Seabury company for S. H. Vander grift of Pittsburg, an enthusiastic yachtsman and member of the New York and Larchmont Yacht Clubs. The guaranteed speed Is 30 miles an hour. The launch is 66 feet 6 inches over all 65 feet on the water line, 6 feet beam, and of minimum draught The model has long, torpedo boat'stern and sharp overhang, with very fine entrance lines for the forward body. The machinery (.onslHts of a new design Speedway gasoline engine with nine cylinders each 10 inches by 8 Inches. The hull is divided Into three compartments, the forward and after cockpit for pas sengers and the engine is placed amid ships. The hull construction is made up of three thicknesses of planking, with copper fastenings. The outside planking Is of teak below the water line and Spanish cedar is used above the water line. A mahogany combing of ample height above the deck en closes the entire cockpit.
