The most eagerly unttcapated event of the world's fair, an exhibition voy age on an airship over the ex position grounds, will take place at noon on Saturday, August 27, which is Liberal Arts Duy. A big airship, of the dirigible or self-steering pattern, is scheduled to fly at 1 o'clock from the tall tower of the American DeForest wireless telegraph concern, above the Plaza of Orleans and around the Palace of Liberal Arts, high up in the air. Four anchored balloons, one at each corner of the palace, will mark the course. This is an event which prom ises to bring an immense crowd to the fair. Other features of unusual Interest will be the first display of daylight, fireworks at noon; a pretty floral pa rade; a procession of dignitaries and other persons In automobiles; and the distribution of many valuable prizes. including a piano worth $750. to be awarded to the most beautiful lady present. At 9 o'clock in the morning the Pal ace of Liberal Arts will be thrown open and the public invited to enter. In side will be found a glorious array of decorations, every exhibitor seeking to outvie the other in transforming the booths into bowers of beauty. The famous Mexican band and sev eral other great bands will open the festivities with music, being stationed In different parts of the huge exhibit palace. The beautiful floral decorations everywhere will give the appearance of a grand floral festival day, and the pretty sunken garden outside will add to the effect. At 10 o'clock a parade will reach the Plaza of Orleans, just outside the Pal ace of Liberal Arts. In this parade will be the St. Louis Exposition officials, United States government officials, foreign and state officials, all in auto mobiles decorated with flags of their nations, while the bands will play the national airs of the countries represen ted. The main reception will occur in the unoccupied space that was allotted to Russia in the palace of liberal arts, which will be handsomely decorated with flags and banners, as well as with flowers of many colors. After the formal reception and ad dresses the crowd will scatter over the building, for there will be entertain ments in four different places at once. There will be continuous free shows, music and vaudeville attractions, and singing by a large chorus of Indian girls from the government Indian schools, and of children from various public schools. There will be a novelty in the way of music on all kinds of instruments from all parts of the world. At 3 o'clock the grand floral prize pa rade will occur, starting from the Sun ken Garden. Prizes aggregating $1000 will be awarded to the most hand somely decorated automobiles in this parade. The beautiful lady receiving the $750 piano will be crowned Queen of the Floral Parade. The Judges to decide will be selected from among men of prominence who are good Judges of beauty. During the entire day the Republic of Brazil will serve free coffee to visi tors and will give away souvenir bags of Rio coffee. Every visitor at the Liberal Arts Palace will have the privilege of pur chasing a special Pike ticket for 50 cents which will admit to all of the fifty shows on the Pike. NEWS OF IRON MARKET. Orders for Rails Total 125,000 Tons Largest Week's Business in Months. Cleveland, Aug. 26. The Iron Trade Review this week says: "The uncertainty overhanging the Iron market has filled the week with rumors of cut prices and of pool disso lutions, but with all the commotion the status has remained practically un changed. The reduction of U a ton in wire nails and as high as $7 a ton in wire products have called special atten tion to the competition In that part of the market and the independent pro ducers at Pittsburg have not only met these reductions as they apply to Job- bers, but have made them applicable to mixed arload yrder for retailors, this amounting to t further out of $1. A further effort is now being made to se cure adjustment of wire prices but Its success seems problematical. "Ourrent specifications In sled bar are on old contracts taken at $1.30, while the agtved price Is $1.3.V Note worthy business of the week Is In rails and structural material. Orders for rails total 125,000 tons. th largest week's business in months. The pig Iron market has been en tirely secondary the past week to de velopments In finished material. Rather less Is doing In foundry Iron and north- j ern furnaces are taking most of the business, but enough southern Irons ire sought as a necessary part of the business. 10,000 tons for Michigan de livery being sold in the week. The $.S5 Birmingham price is still quoted by one producer. Northern furnaces are a tritle tinner pernaps. rerro- Hagnnese has sold at $41 for SO per cejit., the lowest price in years, the re sult of English competition, fix steel orporation blast furnaces have re sumed within the week or are prepar ing to do so. These and other ad ditions to the active list will give a larger pig iron output in August than that of July." Suicide Prevented. The startling announcement that a preventive of suicide had been discov ered will interest many. A run-down system, or despondency invariably pre cedes suicide and something has been found that will prevent that condition which makes suicide likely. At the first thought of self-destruction take Electric Bitters. It being a great tonic and nervine will strengthen the nerves and build up the system.
