In a gymnastic con test, which aroused great enthusiasm among the guests, the prizes were won by Mrs, Troyer and Mrs. Gordon. After luncheon was served "five hundred" wss played. The first prize was won Miss Fisher, Miss Hartnerr and Mr. Sehulderman by a score of M to JO, see. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Tallant were the guests of Mrs. C. W. Mrs. C. W. Knowles and Mrs, I. N. Flelsch. ner also entertained. A number of picnics and parties are anticipated for the coming week, among which are trips to Elk creek and Thompson's fails. A greut many people came from Portland to stay over Sunday at the beach, and the easy accessibility of Seaside makes It the favorite resort for busy city people who have a day to spare. The largest party of the season was given Thursday by Mrs. F. P. Kendall at "Crow's Nest." In honor of Mrs. Neal and Mrs. Troyer. The house and grounds were beautifully decorated with elder berries, ferns and Chinese lanterns and umbrellas, the prevailing colors being red and green. A spirited guessing contest aroused much Inter est. Cards bearing the picture of a ship were passed, and Inside were found i 20 questions to be answered by tne names of various parts of the ship. The first prize was won by Mrs. E. W. Tallant, the second by Mrs. H. D. Thing and the third by Mrs. George C. Flavel. Some of Mrs. Kendall's most charming girl friends assisted In serv ing the luncheon. A picnic crowd, carrying their luncheon and supper, left Seaside Tuesday morning and spent the entire day at the "Old Orchard," on Elk Creek road. Fleischner, who is always the same charming hostess. The living room was decorated with nasturtiums and the dining room with duhllas. "Five hundred" and euchre were played, after which delicious refresh ments were served. The wedding of Miss Lottie Bennett to Mr. Bell, which takes place at Gear heart Park on Wednesday, promises to be a very Interesting event for the coming week. Miss Olga Hellborn and Mrs. Charles Hellborn entertained the members of the Thursday Afternoon Club this week at Miss Hellborn's home on Ex change Btreeet. Yellow and white flow ers were used for the decoration of the rooms and those present played six-handed euchre. Miss Harriett Tal- Tuesday afternoon at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoefler, on Eleventh street. Roses and nas turtiums were used for the decorations, and. the birthday table, which held all the good things most liked by children, was a very pretty sight. The children were amused with gnmes and a grab bag. Those who received invitations were: Dorothy and France Dunbar. Lawrence Logan, Rawley Stine, Earl month have been visiting with Miss Mabel Taylor and Miss Grace Stokes. Miss Binney and Miss Stokes will re turn this week to Berkeley, to resume their studies at the university of Call-fornia. Katherine Wade returned yesterday from Portland, where she had been visiting for a few days with friends.
