Dr. Samuel lion, one of the foremost IHDtlet educators and divines, is dead at his home here after an illness of more than a year. He was born In Kentucky 75 years ago. Dr. Moss served as president of the old Chicago university and of the Indiana State university at Bloomlngton, He was also editor of several Bapthit publi cations. For the last three years he made his home in this city. In bis youth he learned the printing trade at which be worked for several years in Louisville and Cincinnati. In the closing years of the civil war he was appointed borne secretary of the United States Christian Commlsaion, which had for it object the relief of those who had suffered injury through the war.
