Over a hundred Invita tion have been Istued and the affair promises to be one of the mott pleas ant of the season. e e e The member of the Thursday after noon Club were entertained by Ml Elmore on Thunday afternoon. A carry-all was uaed to convey the young ladle to Tounga river, where they pent an enjoyable afternoon. The game of quoit wa played and Ml Lottie Bennett won the price. Mr. Anna Fulton , entertained the lad let of the Friday Afternoon Club lost week. A bridge whltt party wa given by Mr. Oeorle II. George on Tueeday aft ernoon at hw pretty home, on Irving avenue. The parlor weer elaborately decorated with carnation and rote. On the score card , were tiny pen aketche of bridge, while quite a real looking bridge In miniature form wa the very appropriate center piece for the dining table. Those who took part In the mutlcal program were the Misses Alice Wood and Reba Ilobaon, and the Mesdame Charles Houston, Charles Callendar, Elmer Thayer, Jas, W. Welch, C. J. Trenchard, George W, Wood, C. W. Fulton, IL J. Wherity, Prael and O. C. Fulton. The L. E. M. J. I Club of East Astoria gave a rose leap year dance at O'Brien'a hall last Monday evening. The hall wo elaborately decorated with white rose and evergreen. Ttte evening waa spent In dancing, and an Ice cream aupper wa served by Misses Clara Larsen. Lillian Jackson and Nena Moore, who were asolsted by Misses Olaga Moore, Mabel Larsen and May Hofmonn. Patronesses were Mrs. M, S. Gallagher, Mr. Ludwlg Lamn and Mr. Dan McDonald. Old-Tims Retldtnt of Oregon I Visit ing in Portland. Mr. Margaret Magruder Wall of Alameda, Cal., 1 visiting In Portland. She cams to Oregon in 1844 with her parents, located at Oregon City, and lived there until 1861, when the family removed to California.' Her father, Theophllus Magruder, . will be always remembered in Oregon history as a member of th Oregon Exchange Com pany, which coined the firtt gold on the Pacing coast at Oregon City In February, 1141. After removing to California, Mr. Wall was married in 186S to General Joseph O. Wall, who was one of the founders of Crescent City, CaL, and a prominent figure in the lumbering and shipping industries centering at that place.
