Auditor Anderson has prepared an
Interesting statement showing the
amount of warrants drawn by the city
during the year IMS, the purposes for
whlch the warrants were drawn and
the source of revenue for that period
The warrants amounted In all to 185,
UT.6. while the receipts for the year
were tl0S.3iT.0S.
The statement embodies the Interest
payments of the city for the year. The
total amount of Interest on the bonded
debt Is 110,405. H. The bonded In
debtedneas I slightly In excess of
1 170.000 and the bonds bear I per cent
Interest. Of the total amount of the
bonded Indebtedness, about IS5.000 was
due to Illegally passed ordinances
Thoae ordinances provided for street
Improvements and the supreme court
held that they were void. , The coat
of the Improvements tell on to the city
and In April, 1SS7, an tssue of (90,000
was made by the council to pay for the
work. The bonds run for 10 years and
will mature In 1917. No option was
provided for, and the bonds cannot be
taken up until maturity. Were It not
for the defective street ordlnancea the
city would be In good financial eondl
tlon. - ,
Tba coat of conducting the city gov
ernment was 111,000 less last year than
the amount of receipts.

amount from licenses. The saloons
paid 117.200 during tha year, while
other license money received brought
up the total to 133.881.60. The police
court Onea and forfeitures were 110.
343.60. and tha total from these sources
was 231,731, as compared with 118.-
783.84 received from taxes on city
property, The A. A C. pays an an
nual tax of 1100 for Ita franchise but
last year paid Its tax for two years,
having fallen behind In Its account
with tha city the previous year.
