Owing to opposition from union quar ter a military hand will not be en gaged to play here during the regatta. The committee had intended to em ploy the local and the 19th Infantry bands, but the Astoria musicians object to playing with gorernment bands ow ing to certain rules governing the un ion, of which all are members. The first objection -came from Portland,' letter being written from the union there to the one In this city.
