The Aatnrla Box company yesterday recognised the Mill and Lumber Work er!' union and grunted all that the union asked. There waa no atrlke or nhter difficulties on, thn only uueatlon Involved being the recognition of the union and a change In the board at lowance, which were reudlly agreed to by the company. It virtually mean an Increase of 15 a month In wage for worn of the employ.). Therefore the single men have hud to board at the mi'M house, and were charged 115 a month for board. ' The married men were allowed I0 a month for board If they boarded at lion'. Time minimum wage were 135 a month and board for Ingle men and US a month without board for married men. Now all get a minimum of 140 a month and board where they plenae. Thla la much more agreeable to the men and really makes them very good wag-s. William Waihaja died In thla city Monday night of consumption. De ceased was a native of Finland and 32 year of age. He was a printer by trade and had been employed on the CONCEUNINd Xl'MBEU The cutting capacity of the mills of Oregon will show an Increase approxi mately of one million feet per day at the colse of thl year, over 1902. This Increase I attributable to the enlarge ment of the old plant and the erection of new mills. In Washington it M es timated that the increased capacity wilt be in the neighborhood of two mil lion feet per day. Y. This is the second large contract for redwood ordered for sim ilar purposes the present year, the first being for the Niagara Falls Power com pany. The Seaside Lumber company ha In stalled another 100-horse power boiler. and an 80-hors power engine. Since Manager Froslld took hold of thla mill he haa made marked Improvement in the plant. A sash and door factory will be Installed later. The company's two camp are working steadily. One of the most pleasant events of the season took place yesterday after noon and evening at the home of Mr. S. Brown, where the ladles of the Monday club gave a tee and apron sale. During the entire afternoon the house was thronged with ladles, admiring and purchasing the beautiful aprons and shopping bags of which there were about 73, all hand made and donated by the ladle of the club and their many friends. He was much pleased with the push and progress of Spokane, where his brother, O. E. Prael, is now locat ed. At Falrhaven he visited F. W. Prnel, of the American Can company for two days.
