il
Purest of Emollients and
Greatest of Skin Cures.
The Most Wonderful Curative
of All Time
For Torturing, Disfiguring
Humours.
Cuticura Ointment is beyond question
the most successful curative for tortur
ing, disfiguring humours of the skin and
scalp, including log? of hair, ever com
pounded, in proof of which a single
anointing with it, preceded by a hot
bath with Cuticura Soap, and followed
in the severer cases by a dose of Cuti
cura Resolvent Pills, is often sufficient
to afford immediate relief in the most
distressing forms of itching, burning
and scaly humours, permits rest and
sleep, aud points to a speedy cure when
all other remedies fail. It is especially
so in the treatment of infants and chil
dren, cleansing, soothing and healing
the most distressing of infantile hu
mours, and preserving, purifying and
beautifying the skin, scalp and hair.
Cuticura Ointment possesses, at the
same time, the charm of satisfying the
simple wants of the toilet, in caring for
the skin, scalp, hair and hands from In
fancy to age, far more effectually,
agreeably and economically than the
?aost expensive of toilet emollients,
ts "Instant relief for gkln-tortared
babies," or " Sanative, antiseptic clean s
ing," or "One-night treatment of the
hands," or "Single treatment of the
hair," or " Use after athletics," cycling,
golf, tennis, riding, sparring, or any
sport, each n connection with the use
of Cuticura Soap, is sufficient evidence
of this. .
Millions now rely on Cuticura Soap,
assisted by Cuticura Ointment, for pre
serving, purifying and beautifying the
skin, for cleansing the scalp of crusts,
scales and dandruff; and the stopping
of falling hair, for softening, whitening
and soothing red, rough and sore
hands, for baby rashes, ltcbings and
chafing, as well as for all purposes of

CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
Frank Cisco, proprietor of a down
town resort, demonstrated In rather an
unnecessarily violent manner Inst Sat
urday night that colored men were not
allowed to frequent his place. Eldon
Patton, an employe of Davis logging
camp on the John Day, entered Cisco's
place Saturday night and when he ap
proached the bar was at once invited to
leave. Sow, it Jiappens that Mr.
Patton is a negro, and for that reason,
and that alone, he was ordered to
leave. The man of color was disposed
to argue the question with Cisco and in
the altercation that ensued the latter
made use of a bottle, to the decided in
convenience of the former. Patton
was badly injured, in fact, and Cisco
was arrested and charged with an as
sault with a deadly weapon. He was
later released on 1500 bail and next
Saturday will appear before Justice of
the Peace Goodman for a hearing.
LIQUID AIR DEMONSTRATED.
This city may at an early date wit

covery of which has attracted so much

when put on Ice, but freeaet the flame
of an oil stove when placed thervon.lt

York hospitals have had some promis
ing results with Its curative properties
In cancer cases and also aa a local an
esthetic In surgical operations. Liquid
air Is an Interesting, up-to-date subject
and with the many startling experienc

AT THE UNION MEETING.
Rev. L.' J. Trumbull and Uev. Henry
Marcotte addressed a large audience at
the Methodist church Sunday evening
on the subject of Sabbath observance.
The ministers maintained that the
Christian Sabbath, and what It stands
for, has been aa a firm foundation atone
In the structure of our commonwealth
to which we are Indebted for the solid
and subtatntlal goodnesa and virtue In
our national life. That the observances
in the formative period of our existence
of the Christian Sabbath, and to its
teachings and their Influence on the
men and women who made the nation
what It Is. Is due the fact that the Am
erican people have risen to a higher
plane In morality and Intellect than the
people of older civilisations which were
without the high Ideals which our rigid
strictures sought to accomplish. The
tendency to make Sunday nothing more
elevating than a mere holiday was de
preciate,! as a pernicious disregard of
Its highest and best uses the develop
ment of the noble attributes and better
sentiments of human nature, and a
fall to the low standards of those coun
tries where Sunday Is largely a day of
sports and dissipation was considered
most undesirable. The duty of fore
going an Inclination to spend the Sab
bath In plcnlcing and sport for the
sake of maintaining the beneficial In
fluence ovr others of a firm and Is--
repronchable 'character was emphasised
and also the fact that the feelings of
Interesfed fellow Christians and friends
should be considered. The ground tok
en was th it iove for God, for the good,
for the Sabbath which has done so
much for man, and for others, should
impel its observance.
