It is wry evident that the gentlemen endeavor consovntiously to conserve the interests of the city and to avoid working a hardship on any Individual in so doing.. They certainly deserve the respect and gratitude of every fti habitant of the city. THE FRVIT CROP. The apple crop last season produced eleht hundred and fifty thousand roxea of fresh and one hundred and fifty thousand pounds of dried fruit. The crop ttus year will De onsia-raniy larxer. though the price (viilUM will be less, owing to the large Eastern crop. Owners of the large commercial orchards who ship their apples to Eng land will realise as muth .as they did last year, but not so with the small producers. The state raised 240.000 box of peaches In 1S01 .and dried $U,000 wirth This year In the Ashland district which produces the bulk of the crop, the Increase will be fully twenty per cent. Estimates differ as to the pear trop. Last vcar Oregon produced one hun dred thousand boxes, and tiie output of dried pears brought $10,000. The croo mav not be quite as large this vear. but the shortage will not be great .Tradesman . THE NEW ENGLISH STAMPS.
