The funeral of the late Harry Iiu

a day passes without a report of some

stolen. Last night, a delivery wagon
belonging to Pat Lawier broke down at
the foot of Sevententh street; the wag
on was loaded with salt; the driver
went to pet some help to fix his ve
hicle, and when he returned the salt
had disappeared.
W. U. Hume ,son of George W. .
Hume, arrived In the city yesterday
from San Francisco, and will call As
toria his home from now on. Mr.
Hume, Jr., has been associated with
years ,and comes here to take charge
his father at San Francisco for many
of the new sawmill to be creeted by
Mr. Hume, sr. The young man Is well
known in this city, having visited it
very often until about 12 years ago,
when his visits here were discontin
ued, and Were not resumed until last

A very disreputable looking tranm
has been hanging around here for
several days, frightening the women
and children. He visited the house
of Mr. Hanks twice in one day. Mr.
Hank therefore remained af the house
as protection to his Invalid wife and
daughter. Miss Bertha.
On Tuesday evening a nutnV-r of lit
tle girls met at the home of Bessie
and Ida Hutchinson In a farewell par
ty to Pollic and iJora Kalon. Pres
ents were exchanged and the little
girls left with the best wishes of all
their playmates.

home In Idaho, and new friends to
