Newapapers are often criticised for
the errors they contain. Errors alip
through In the very beat regulated
offices nhere every department has an
expert in every line. The editorial
writer looks after bis department, the
city editor his department, the tele
graph editor his department, the man
aging editor then tooks after it all
except the proof reader, who holds the
responsibility over all as to typo
graphical errors, and yet errors occur

that errors sometimes occur. The edi
tor is as quick to see- these errors
next morning as any reader of the
paper and he "smarts" under it, but
