The New lands Irrigation bill waa reported to the house today by Mondell, of Wyp omlng in behalf of the Irrigation com mlttee. 5 , The report says that the territory affected by the bill la nearly one-half the area of the United States and that in sixteen arid land state there are over 538,000,000 acre of public land subject to entry. ' Of this vast tract only lO.WO.OOO acres will produce crops without Ir rigation, ehvwlng the extent of the arid dlntrlot. Mondell pointed om that with such a wide domain,, no agency other than the government can deal adequately wfth the problem of irrigation.
