March 6.-The third conference of Republican members of the house to consider the Cuban tar iff concessions was held tonight. Be fore the meeting Speaker Henderson and Representative Cannon, chairman of the caucus, called at the White House and were understood to have held a further conference with the president on the situation. After speeches by Dalzell, of Penn sylvania; Taylor, of Ohio; Long, of Kansas, and Speaker Henderson n the various sides of the question, the in ference adjourned until next Tuesday night. Ear ly in the session Frye, in charge of the shipping Mil. obtained an agree ment that the senate should vote on the measure at 3 p. en. Monday, March 17th. Before consideration of the snipping bin was resumed, an extended debate occurred on the measure providing for the protection of the president of the United States. Bacon took the ground that the bill was an Invasion of the jurisdiction of the states, and that ft ought to be amended radically. Pat terson urged that the bill ought to pass In Its present form.
