The houhe, after spending nearly an

Poorman's fellow-servant bill. It a
debated at length, and although even
it opponents admitted It had good
points, it was defeated by a vote of
31 to 22.
The other railroad bill disposed of,
and which met a slm'l.ir fate, was the
bill of Harris to fix the liability of rail

votes were ca;U In favor of this bill. By
the disposition of th'-n bills oil meas

WHAT Ot.'R FIjAG STANDS FOR.
Wherever the American flag Is raised
in token of sovereignty, It stands for
liberty. Independence and equality.
What our flag is to the nation, Hostet
ter's Stomach Bitters Is to the individ
ual, Inasmuch as It not oniy gives you
freedom from ycur ailments but pro
tects your system In such a manner
that they cannot return. When your
stomach gets out of order, causing you
to belch after eating, or when you are
so nervous that you toss about all
night, unable to sleep, you should cer
tainly try It, because It will strengthen
your stomach, steady your nerves, and
induce Bound healthy sleep, and for in
digestion, constipation and biliousness,
there Is nothing to equal It. Rheuma
tism Is also counteracted by its direct
action on the kidneys.

LIME WAR DECLARED.
Big Concerns Determined to Freeze Out
Smaller Ones.
War, and war to the bitter end. has
not only been declared by the big man
ufacturers of lime on the Pacific coast
against the smaller manufacturers, but
the fight has already been b-.gun and
Is being waged with a force that in
the end will probably drive the smaller
ooncerns cut of business, unless mean
time arrangements can be made for
the declaration of a truce.
As a result of the war In lime, build
ers are able to buy their supplies of
this very necessary material 33 per cent

product has for years been held steadily
at $1.60 per barrel. Today H is sold
for $1.10 per barrel, and to date, this
Is bedrock, whether' the buyer takes
a barrel or 1000 barrels.
The big dealers claim that some of
the smaller manufacturers have violat
ed faith and, in certain instances, cut
under the price as fixed by the general
agreement. Whether the smaJler mak
ers have actually violated faith or not
means but little to them now that the
war has been declared. The big fellows
have made the charge and taken the
settling of it into their own hands. The
price has been cut so deep that it will
be impossible for all of the smaller
companies to' survive and It may be
possible .that none of them can remain
