Ail went well until Thursday, when ahe encountered the beginning of tho late atorm, and the extremely heavy swella twisted off her rudder. The lighthouse tender Mananlta, which arrived down the river yester day afternoon from an extended trip to the aids to navigation on the Columbia and Willamette reported the steamer Sarah Dixon as lying with her nose on the Jetty at Mount Coffin and the great er part of her submerged. The steamer was sunk early yesterday morning on the dike or jetty opposite Mount Coffin. The steamer now lies partly upon the dike, but projects into 15 feet of water. Barge will be started Immediately for the scene of the acci dent, and it la expected that the boat will be raised before the end of the week. The damage Is estimated at about $1000. No lives were lost. The Sarah Dixon Is the property of the Shaver Transportation Company.
