CANADIAN ELECTIONS.
Laurler Government Sustained by a
Miijority of 50 to 60 Members.
OTTAWA. Ont., Nov. 7.-The result
of today's election shows that the gov
ernment has been sustained by a ma
jority of from M to 60 members on the
basis of returns received up to mid
night and with five constituencies to
be heard from. Today's elections were
iu 208 out of 213 constituencies of the
dominion and the remaining Ave will
hold their elections at a later date.
BRITISH COLUMBIA DISAGREES.
VANCOUVER. B. C. Nov. 7. British
Columbia has not Joined In the gen
eral approval of the Laurler govern
ment, expressed by the eastern prov
inces of Canada In today's election.
Six seats In the house of commons
are alloted to British Columbia and in
two of these constituencies the elec
tion has been deferred for one month.
Of four British ' Columbia seats con
tested today two returned conserva
tives, one labor, with a conservative
leaning, and one liberal. The two re
maining c'inailtuencles are expected to
return supporters of the government at
the deferred election.

returns from three-fourths of the coun
ties of the state and estimates from
the remainder Indicate that McKlnley
will carry the state by about 10,000.
Rogers. Democrat, for governor, Is
about 600 ahead of Frink, and indlcai
lions are that he has been elected.
Jones and Cushman. Republicans, are
elected to congress by good majorities,
though somewhat less than McKlnley.
The entire Republican state ticket,
with the exception of Frlnlc for gov
ernor. Is probably elected by major
ities of two to six thousand.
The Democrats concede that McKln
ley has carried the state.
Democrats are positive that Gover
nor Rogers, fuslonlst, has been re
elected by from 500 to 1000 votes. The
Republicans still profess to believe that
thair candidate, Frlnk, will pull through
with several hundred votes to spare.
PORTLAND, Nov. 7. Practically
one-half of the state of Washington
has been reported and shows the fol
lowing: McKlnley. 27.4S1; Bryan. 20,051. For
governor Frlnk, Republican, 23,036;
Rogers. Demxrat, 22,763. Frlnk's plu

The vote for governor Is very close
and It will require a more complete
count to determine the result. West
of the Cascade mountains late re
turns have raised Frlnk's vote.
TACOMA. Nov. 7. The entire Repub
lican county ticket in Pierce county Is
elected.
SPOKANE. Nov. 7. The count is
proceeding slowly. Enough returns are
in to show that Rogers has probably
carried Spokane county by 1300 plural
ity. McKlnley carried the county by

SEATTLE. Nov. 7. Rogers will ltave
a plurality of about 400 In Kins; county.
TACOMA, Nov. 7. In 83 out of 85
precincts of Pierce county. McKlnley
has 5763. Bryan 3723; Rogers, Democrat,

man and Jones. Republicans, for con
gress, will carry the county by about
2700 majority.
PORTLAND, Nov. 7. The nearly
complete vote of Oregon gives McKln
ley 40,527; Bryan 2S.1S0; Woolley, 1247;
Barker 128; Debs 854. The McKlnley
plurality Is 12,347. Estimating unre
ported precincts gives McKlnley a plu
rality of 14,225.
