Recent action of th'e federal railroad admin istration In reducing freight rates on road-buildlng materials by 10 cents a ton will not hare the effect of causing the Oregon publlo servico commission to abandon Its efforts to oprcure what It holds to be adequate reductions. The reduction recently ordered Is 10 cents under the war Increase or the present commercial rote. This lacks a great deal of be ing as low as recommended by the Oregon district freight traffic com mittees and the recommendation of the service commission was 10 cents under that of the freight traffic com mittee.
