The new bridge built by the coun
ty over Evans creek, about one mile
south of Wimer, was completed this
week and on Wednesday was thrown
open to traffic. The new structure
Is a long needed Improvement and is
of great benefit to the public. The
approximate cost of the bridge Is
about $1500. It has two spans of 40
feet, one of 64 feet and one of 20
feet.
John Sidney Montgomery, Oregon
pioneer of 1853, died at the home of
his son, Al Montgomery, at Spring
field, Sunday, after a Illness of six
weeks. He was 80 yetrs of age and
a native of Schuyler county, Mo. On
coming to Oregon, after crossing the
plains with an ox team, he settled
