District Horticultural Commission
er A. C. Allen addressed the meeting
and reported that the blight inspec
tion force had been particularly effi
cient this year, and that the same
policy would continue for the coming
year. It was stated that now is the
time for all orchardists to begin root
Inspection for blight, and that failure
to do so would cause rigid invocation
of the law.
Mr. Allen stated that during the
year the power of the, Inspectors
granted by state law had been used,
and that in several cases it was nec
essary to use force to remove the
blight. Over $1,000 in liens have
been filed against land for inspection
work to date.
The meeting was enthusiastic from
start to finish. ,
Died.
Little Emerson Smith known to
many as "Petie" and loved by all who
knew him died Tuesday evening at
5 o'clock, aged four years. He had
tonsllitis, followed by erysipelas and
pneumonia. He was the only child
of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith and a
particularly bright and attractive
child. The parents certainly have the
community's sympathy, especially so
as Mrs. Smith herself Is ill and Mr.
Smith has just begun to recover from
a very severe illness and surgical op
eration. Chimney sweep. Phone 294-R.
