The Wells-Fargo Express company are moving into their new quarters in the Oregon hotel. The Grizzlies of Mcdford will climb Mount Ashland and Mount Wagner on June 17 and 18. i Mrs. S. T. Songer has gone to San Francteco to visit Dr. E. G. McConnell and his sister, Miss Wlnne. The new four-Inch water main on Church street baa been Installed and the street is being graded off. Deputy Sheriff Curly Wilson and County Clerk Gardiner were business visitors In the city Tuesday evening. Misses Leda and Opal Harvey re turned last Saturday from Gold Hill where they have been visiting their father and friends. The Bungalow has established comfortable rest rooms for the ladies. "Bud" Burdic, who arrived last week at Ms home which changed from Ashland to Grants Pass while he was away, was "up from the sugar beet city Tuesday and on Thursday drove back with an automobile for which he came up. James McNalr and his daughter, Mrs. Howard Rose, left yesterday for Portland where they will attend tho Rose Festival. In Portland they will meet Mrs. Rose's tuln sister, Mrs. Frey, and go with her to Astoria for a month's visit at her home. Big opening at the Nat Friday evening at 8 o'clock. It Mrs. M. L. Whitney left last Thurs day for Hornbrook where she will spend a month with the family of her son, Don. She will then go to Oak land and spend the remainder of tho summer visiting relatives In that city. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Strickland will occupy Mrs. Whitney's residence dur ing her absence. Newsome Harrison has taken an In terest in the Ashland Vulcanizing Works, recently established by W. S. Weaver and Ellis Neil. Messrs. Weav er and Harrison will conduct the bus iness and have taken the agency for the Chevrolet car. Hard ware Stock We must reduce our stock one-half with in the next thirty days. ' H. C. Galey arrived Tuesday morn ing and has accepted a position in the business department of the Ash land Tidings. He comes from Los Angeles, Cal. Mrs. Galey has been here for several weeks. Wheeler, arrived in this city Saturday on motorcycles from Fresno, Cal. They are making a tour of various coast points and went north after a brief visit at the Wheeler home. Miss Edna Wells, who stands a good chance of being the next coun ty school superintendent over in Klamath county, having been nomin ated by the republicans at the recent primaries, Is visiting relatives in the city and valley. Mrs. Myrtle Johnson, for several years a teacher In the Ashland grade schools and" considered one of the most efficient teachers of the Ash land force, has been elected to a po sition In the Portland schools. There were 2000 applicants for 33 vacancies In the Portland schools and the Ash land teacher's election speaks highly of her qualifications. Mrs. A. L. Bump, son and daughter, who have been visiting Mrs. Fred Putnam, on Hargadlne street in this city, left Monday for Portland where they will visit Mrs. Bump's mother, Mrs. Bump's husband Is a captain in the United States army and she but recently returned from his station at Tsln Tien, China. Captain Bump has joined his regiment in Mexico. Dr. F. G. Swedonburg left Thursday on a months' trip in the east. He goes to Chicago to attend the annual meeting of the alumni of Rush Medi cal College, then to Detroit, Mich., to attend the sessions of the American Medical Association, and later will at tend clinics In Rochester, Minn., where the famous Mayo brothers and their institutions are located. Ore., visited Mrs. J. W. Hasklns on Gar field street Sunday. Mrs. Wolfe was just returning from a visit to Rosa burg and vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Ilittson of Col- well, Idaho, who are touring the coast by automobile, spent Sunday in Ash land, continuing their Journey south to San Diego and Los Angeles Mon day. Fulton Smith of Talent, who was ordered by the circuit court a week ago to provide bonds for the support of his Infant child, has disappeared, according to rumor, and a bench war rant has been issued for Ihs arrest. Mrs. Harry Simpson whose mother died recently in Colorado, has Just received a letter of condolence from George A. Carlson, governor ot Colo rado, who was a schoolmate of Mrs. Simpson In Denver some years ago. MIhb Anna Pendleton, of Santa Ana, Cal., who Is paying Ashland an other visit during the summer season, has leased the Gregory bungalow on pinnoor nvpmifl. nossession to be given June 15. Later on the family of A. B. Gardiner, her son-in-iaw, also of Santa Ana, will Join her here for a vacation outing. James H. Doran and family left Monday morning in their automobile for a three weeks' outing tour in Cal ifornia. They go first to Grldley, where they will visit an aunt and uncle of Mr. Doran's, Mr. and Mrs. George Kllpatrick, then, to San Jose, where they visit another uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Cunningham.
