Twenty-seven ladies of the Bear creek district were present. Each lady brought with her one pound of carpet rags, and during the afternoon they were sewed and pre sented to the bride-elect for future fiirnishlne for her new home. Other useful presents were presented. In the middle of the afternoon a mock wedding was held, which furnished much amusement. A picnic lunch was served In cafeteria style. All the ladies spent a very pleasant after noon. Miss Ruth Wilson returned this week from Eugene, where she has spent her freshman year at the col' lege. Tuesday afternoon, June 15, Miss Alice Vandersluis entertained the young ladies' class of the Talent Methodist church. The gathering was in the nature of a farewell to Miss Olive Richardson of Spokane, who left Wednesday evening for Port land. Miss Richardson has been the guest of her aunt, Mrs. E. E. Cook and returns to her home to be mar ried to Mr. Clement Deltch the 20th of this month. Assembled In a circle on the lawn, the young ladies elected the class officers for the coming year. The result was the selection of Miss Callie Vogeli, president; Mrs. Carl Lehman, vice-president; Miss Alice Vandersluis, secretary; Miss Ona Maxson, treasurer. Various commit tees are to be appointed later. Seat ed around the rose-bedecked table where refreshments were served were tthe guest of honor, Miss Richardson, Mrs. Vandersluis, Mrs. Carl Lehman, Mrs. Wayland Smith, Miss Lennart and Mrs. M. C. Reed of Ashland, and the Misses Lucile and Margaret Ames, Callie Vogeli, Edythe Tryer, Anna Smith, Nona Pace, Ona Maxson, Anna Anderson, little Laura Tryer and the hostess.
