Mrs. John Roblson entertained the Tuesday Afternoon Study Club at her home this week. Archie Murray, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Vander sluis, left Monday afternoon for Port land, where he will visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Murray. Cecil Ager left this week, 83 a guest of his uncle, Harold Ager and family, for Crater Lake. They expect to be away about two weeks. Mrs. Carl Lehman is reported to be on the sick list. Mrs. Stedman and daughter of Phoenix visited Mrs. Mary Works this week. Miss Louise Lennart of Ashland Is at the home of Mrs. R. J. Luke this week, sewing. Mrs. Ed Foss entertained the La dles' Aid Society of the Methodist church at her home on Thursday. The ladies spent the afternoon sew ing on aprons for the coming annual sale. Dainty refreshments were served. Jeff Bell is seriously ill. Miss Myrell Gibson of Ashland was the guest of Mrs. W. Smith on Thurs day. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wakeman and Morris and N'eal Mahony stopped here a few minutes from Medford. They are on their way to San Francisco In their car. Saturday, June 5, occurred the wedding of Miss Blanche Gutches and Mr. William Withrow, at the Medford Methodist parsonage. Both are pop ular young people of the community. After the ceremony the young people attended a wedding dinner at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Gutches, one mile west of Talent. After the dinner the newly- weds left for their new home on the T. E..Scantlin ranch. George Gardner, county clerk of Jacksonville, was a business visitor here Saturday. Miss Mary Wells of Wilbur, Ore., was the guest of Mrs. Carl Lehman this week. Mr. Marion Tryer and small son, Donald,, had a narrow escape on Sun day, June 6, when an auto ran Into the rear end of their wagon, while driving home from their ranch. The accident occurred near the Gibbs home on the Pacific highway. Mr. Tryer was hurt quite badly, but not seriously. The boy was unhurt. Mr. John Roblson bought Mr. C. C. McCurdy's Bulck car this week. Interurban Autocar Co. Hazen for some time, left for Hilt, Cal., to visit for a few days. They will then leave for Nevada, where they will make their home. While returning from Crescent City Thursday evening four Talent men narrowly escaped death. The accident occurred near Waldo. While coming down a hill the car skidded and turned turtle. Lawrence Craw ford was driving the car and was bruised up some, but Mr. Rhodes, Orlie Powers and Will Gleim escaped without injury. The windshield and top were broken, but the car was in good enough condition to drive home. The niece of W. G. Ager of Central Point is visiting with the family this week. Mr. and Mrs.. Henry Barnt of Sac City, Iowa, visited with the three Holdridge families this week. Mr. and Mrs. Brent are old friends and have been visiting the San Diego and San Francisco fairs. They will visit many points of interest before re turning to the Iowa home. Sunday evening at 8 o'clock the children's Day program will be given at the Methodist church. Mr. Minuth of Phoenix has taken charge of the lumber yard here, Joe Beohn having resigned and gone to Portland to reside. Mr.' and Mrs. Wardrip of Wagner Creek are receiving congratulations on the birth of a daughter, born Mon day, June 1. Mrs. Nyswaner. Sr., Is very ill at the home of Mrs. William Houston. Mrs. John Norman is spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Slaughter. Mrs. Hines is very ill at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Slaugh ter, of North Talent. Mrs. L. J. Luke was a Medford vis itor Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Hodgson of Ashland made a business trip up Wagner creek Thursday. Bob Wilcox is looking after the shipping of two cars of asphalt to Eugene, for the Clark-Henery Con struction Company. Mr. and Mrs. Leach and their two sous of Bear Creek spent Friday here 1 shopping.
