Mrs. - Barnhart and daughters, Thelma and Olivia, left Saturday for their new home at Cottage Grove, Ore. Miss Mae Smith will visit in the Ashland and Medford schools next week. Mrs. Merrick of Medrord visited friends here Thursday. Mrs. Myra Roberts of Klamath Falls stopped off here to visit friends after attending the funeral of her sister, Mrs. Hughes, of Medford. Friday evening the members of the Christian church gave a reception for the new members. For two hours a social time was held, after which dainty refreshments were served. Mrs. Louis Brown and daughter Elizabeth were in Ashland Wednes day. Phil Briener returned Monday from northern Washington. Mrs. Vogell spent Thursday the guest of Mrs. King at Frederick. Mrs. Victor Mason of Fern's Valley Is spending a week with her mother, Mrs. R. H. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ward and daughter returned Thursday from Ashland, where they attended the funeral of Mr. Moore, Mrs. Ward's father. Herman Summers of Wagner Creek was a business visitor here Fri day. Mrs. Stedman of Phoenix was a vis itor here Friday. George James, Jr., left Tuesday for southern California. The Methodist church held their Easter program last Sunday Instead of Easter Sunday. All parts went very well. Peter Spencer entertained Satur day evening the boys and girls' bas ketball teams In the school gymnasl um. Refreshments were served, un der the supervision of Miss Gladys Olsen. Mrs. F. E. Foss and Mrs. Wilbur Beeson of Wagner Creek were Med ford visitors Thursday. Chester Wolters made a business trip to Medford Friday. Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Gutches and daughter Blanche of Anderson Creek made a business trip to Medford Fri day. Mrs. E. C. Breese of North Talent was a visitor here Thursday. Mrs. Eva Mays and her son James of Anderson Creek spent Thursday in Ashland with Mrs. Mays' nephew, Mr. Hale, of Long Beach, Cal., who ha3 just bought a residence in Ashland and expects to make his home there. Miss Burnice Hale of Anderson Creek spent Thursday in Ashland. Miss Hazel Lowe spent Tuesday end Wednesday at the Talent school, teaching for Miss Mae Smith, who visited, the Medford and Ashland schools. Harry Sprague returned to Talent from Eugene. Mr. Sprague lived here about threo years ago, and he now Intends to make his home here. A. A. Moody of the Medford Cream ery Company visited here this week. Mr, and Mrs. James Mays of An derson Creek are receiving congratu lations on the birth of a daughter, born April 12. E. C. Collins of Medford was a vis itor here Wednesday. Vance Wolgamott, our city mar shal, had a number of men at work with a grader on the streets Monday and Tuesday. ' Joe Wilson of Anderson Creek was a Medford visitor Thursday. The tennis courts have been put into condition and practice work for the field meet will begin at once. Frand Davis left for Ashland last week, to take a position In the Ash land creamery. Walter Horn of East Talent left Saturday for Kansas City, Mo. James Baker hurt. his hand quite seriously Friday. While shoeing a horse he was kicked. He will not be able to work for some time. J. M. Keith of Wagner Creek was a business visitor here Monday. Miss Emma Crawford spent Satur day evening In Medford on business. J. E. Vance Is painting the Chris tian church and it will be greatly im proved. T. H. Johnson's mill on Anderson creek put out eighteen thousand feet In one day last week, and more men are being hired. Mr. and Mrs. . Smith and son ar rived last week from Marshfleld. They have bought Mr. King's ranch. Mrs. Smith Is the daughter of Mr. King. They expect to put In alig well and other improvements. Mrs. Peter Vandersluis spent Tues day afternoon in Ashland on business. Invitations for a dancing party are out, to take place at the Taylor home on Bear creek. Mrs. John Budgeon Is able to be out after a severe illness of several weeks. Mrs. .1. H. Bailey and son Everett returned Monday from a two months' visit with relatives at Clark, S. D. They liad a delightful visit, but were glad to get back to Anderson Creek, In sunny Oregon. Rev. Smith of Talent, died at the hoir.e of his parents April 12, 1915, after a three weeks" struggle with complications of pneumonia. He was born in Mound City, Kan., May 23, 1892. With the family he came to Ashland, Ore., in 1900. where he lived until two years ago, when the family moved to Tal ent. Me joined the Methodist church at Asliland in 1908. Thornton wa3 a boy of clean and noble character of whom no one could speak aught but good. lie be came a member of the Talent chapter of the Bpworth League a few months previous to his illness, from which he never recovered. The deceased leaves a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Smith, and two brothers, Harold and Forest, of Talent, and one sister, Miss Virginia, of San Jose, Cal. HE A BOOSTER.
