The Jackson County Fire Patrol Association held its annual meeting at the oMce oi the United States for estry service at Medford Wednesday afternoon. The ofi'Iccrs for the com ing year vere elected and a number of talks were given. The officers j elected were V. T. Grieve, president; H. D. Miles, vice-president; Lincoln McCormack, (secretary and treasurer; directors, J. H. Cooley, W. T. Grieve, II. D. Miles, Frank Owen and J. E. Wheeler. The feature of the meeting was an address by V. A. El'lott, state for ester, in which he urged that all tim ber owners burn their slashings early and so help to protect themselves against forest fires. Johnson was plaintiff and Jackson county was defendant, and the Circuit and Supreme Courts having held that Ashland taxpayers were exempt from the payment of general road tax levied by the county in 1913, and whereas a stipulation was entered into at the time the case was In progress, whereby the county is morally bound to repay any amount that was paid into the county on the taxes due in 1913 by the taxpayers as heretofore set out. The County Court provided for the payment of these amounts out of the taxes due in 1915; therefore, in pur suance of the foregoing, notice is hereby given to all persons that paid general road tax due in 1913 that the amount will be repaid upon ap plication or claim being filed with the undersigned at Jacksonville, Oregon Xo "red tape" Is necessary in this matter. Across the face of this huge map, from San Francisco to St. Louis, is a railroad track In miniature. Trains cross and recross, making the entire trip In three mluutes, electric flashes Indicating the stations on the way. From tho globe to th north wall of the building extends an annex sixty-five feet in length, flfty-slx In width, and from the top of this annex rises lu realistic effect on canvas the famous Marshall's pass of Colorado. At lntervnls around the base of the globe and annex are sculptures of a farmer, representing agriculture; a miner, representing mines; a fisherman, for sports; a brakenian, for transportation, and n blacksmith, for commerce, while the slogan of tho railroads Is set In relief, "Comfort, Service, Scenery." In the interior of the globe will be twenty-four models of cities and scenes atong the route of tbi railroads. San Francisco will be seen, Denver, Suit Uike, Lcail ville and such noted bits of scenery as the Royal gorge. In the dim light of the globe's interior, viewing the twelve and fifteen foot canvos portrayals of cities and scenes, stars begin to twinkle in the sky above, and the Illusion of standing gazing upon nature's vast beauties is complete. The stars are secured by an Ingenious electrical device. 'The entire exhibit Is under the supervision of F. A. Wadlelgh, passenger traffic manager of the Western Pacific and Denver and Rio Grande.
