Last Friday a party was given In Wledner Park for Arnold Coleman and Byron Seaman in honor of his fifteenth birthday. Those present were Ena Davis, Irma Robison, Elva Coleman, Rhumphy Coleman, Hazel Netherland, Ruth Garvin, Helen Adamson, Delpha Coleman, Pearl Stump, Ivan Huston, Lou Snook, George Hildabrand, Byron Seaman, Lewis Hildabrand, Morris Jones, Ar nold Coleman, Ralph Snook, Clarence Coleman, Mabel Coleman, Annie Coleman, Naomi Wilson, Kathryii Towne, Maud Rice and Jene Davis. Games were playe and peaches and cream, lemonade and cake were served. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Burgan re turned Thursday afternoon from an extended trip through the middle west and Canada. They had a most delightful trip, but were very glad to come back to the Rogue River Valley. Mrs. Boner, who is the guest of Mrs. John Robison, was taken ill Monday wits the measles. She was very ill on Thursday but is now much better. L. E. Wakeman of Medford was a business Visitor here Thursday. Mrs. John Budgeon has been ill, but is now much better. Marion Tryer and Waldo Bell went on a fishing trip to Butte creek this week. Mrs. John Robison has postponed the picnic which was to have been given at her home Sunday, on account of the illness of Mrs. Boner. Mrs. Lucy West of the Jackson county farm is enjoying a visit from her son of Seattle, Wash. Mrs. Bentley and daughter visited Mr. Bentley, the new blacksmith, Fri day. They will soon move down here from Ashland. They have rented the Dunlap house. George Roberts of Medford came to live at the county farm Friday. He is suffering from Brlght's dis ease. Marion Van Natta is visiting rela tives up Wagner creek from Ashland. Mrs. R. J. Luke and Miss Emma Crawford are elected to be delegates to the Good Roads convention held at Medford the 27th and 28th of July. Wednesday evening Frank Jordan was a visitor from Ashland. David Kennedy of Little Applegate visited here Friday. The power tractor belonging to the Clark-Henery Company arrived here this week. The company has taken the contract for the paving between Talent and Phoenix. Friday evening a large party from here went to the Helman bathB. Everyone had a fine time. J. J. All entries must be on blanks furnished for the purpose by the Sec retary. 3. One entry blank must be filled in for each pupil, and if competing for a prize the blank must be In the hands of the local Secretary by Sep tember 18. 4. All exhibits should be brought In Tuesday, September 22, as no en tries will be received to compete for prizes after 5 o'clock of that day. 5. Superintendents will have en tire charge of the exhibits of the va rious divisions, and will appoint and instruct their own judges. They will also keep a record of all premiums awarded and return the same over to the Secretary after decisions are made. 6. In case there is no competition a premium will be awarded at the dis cretion of the judges. 7. These contests are open to all school children, but those sending any product to the state fair must comply with rules put out by the state department. 8. Blue ribbons will designate first prize, red second, and white third. Ribbon prizes will be given any worthy exhibit entered at this fair. 9. The officers In charge will send the best of the exhibits to the state fair, where additional prizes may be won.
