Fuller, the president of the Civic Improvement Club, has been appointed on the committee for the children's exhibit at the county fair in Medford. Mr. and Mrs. C. I). Burgan took their guests, Mrs. A. L. Riley and Miss Gladys Riley, to Ashland Satur day. Miss Bernlue Hale visited friends in Medford Saturday. Callie Vogeli and Alice Vandersulis went to Ashland Saturday afternoon to see Miss Hamlin and Miss Miller before leaving for Honolulu. The Royal Neighbors were enter tained at an Easter egg supper Mon day evening. Mrs. William II. 'ci man and chil dren, Elina and W. H. Jr., came to take part in the social gathering giv en by the Royal Neighbors. F. C. Reimer of the experimental station spent Monday in Medford transacting business. The Talent band is considering a Fourth of July celebration. If plans materialize they will have an old fashioned Fourth, from a greased pig to a big Bowery dance, with fire crackers and red lemonade Talent has a natural park which would make an ideal place to hold a celebration John Briner's Federals s.re to play the home team Sunday at the ball park. Lindsey of California is in Talent looking after his business in terests. He is stopping at the Bell House. 1 Reports from the shland Hospital are that Mrs. Ernest Purvis is doing very nicely. There was a great ball game be tween Gold Hill and Talent Sunday afternoon. Those In the Talent team were Simpson, Crawford, James, Wa terman, Scott, Smith, Wyant, Gleim and Vance. Those on the Gold Hill team were Miller, Eddings, Miles, Mc Intyre, Blackington, Turner, Birton. Upton and Walker. The score was 5 to 6 in favor of Talent. The following people of Wagner creek held a picnic at the Lerrange ranch last Sunday: Mr. and Mrs. Wimer and son, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Kline, Mr. Dunlap, Mr. Fleiner and Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Keith and family. The Wagner creek school gave an entertainment Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Robison enter tained on Easter Sunday, at dinner, Mrs. A. A. Young, Mrs. Bella Bon ner and Mr. William Pattont of Ash land. In the evening they also en tertained Mr. Elmer Coleman and wife of Phoenix, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cochran and family. Mr. and Mrs. B. Coleman enter tained Mr. and Mrs. Ed Robison and daughter Erma, Easter Sunday. Frank Rose returned from his bus iness trip to California Saturday evening. He had good success. E. V. Carter, C. Simpson, Otto Winter, William McNalr and C. W. Root of Ashland visited Talent Mon day forenoon. Mr. Dahl of Chicago Is here look ing after the interests of (he Grand View orchard. Mrs. C. D. Burgan, Mrs. A. L. Riley and ' daughter, v Miss Gladys, were entertained In Medford by Mrs. L. E. Wakeman. Jay Wlthrow, Talent reporter for the Ashland Record, has been very ill at the home of his grandfather, T. J. Brown. He Is reported much better now. John Norman visited the Suncrest orchard Monday to see Albert Dough erty. Mr. Norman says that Mr. Dougherty is rapidly improving. At the special school election held Saturday afternoon to decide as to the sale of the old school property It was decided almost unanimously to sell the property to the city for a town hall. A small vote was cast. It was also decided to use the city water for the school and grounds as per proposition made them by the city. It is the intention of the au thorities to put the building in first-j class condition, and the Community Club is considering the beautifying of the grounds. Mrs. W. Vogeli has finished can vassing the town for signers to a pe tition to have the state go dry. Charles Hendrickson died at the age of 89 at the Jackson county farm Wednesday, April 8. Ho had been confined to his bed for the past two months. He was born in Illinois and had been an inmate at the Jackson county farm for the past six years. Superintendent J. N. Pace says he wa sa fine old man and he will miss him, because he was always cheer ful. The following notice has been giv en out by William F. Breese, mayor of Talent: "The ladies' clubs and sanitary committee recommend that the town council advise the mayor to issue a proclamation to the people of Talent, Ore. The time is at hand when warm weather will be with us, and flios and other iusects will mul tiply. I would therefore urge the people of Talent and vicinity to keep their premises clean from rubbish, which makes breeding places for flies. Would further recommend that all refuse of the kitchen be kept in covered garbage cans." Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Pliipps of Ash land spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Pace at the Jackson county farm. Mrs. Olivia Barnes of Ashland spent Sunday with Mrs. Long, who is cook at the Jackson county farm. Mr. Hoffhin of Ashland visited John II. Norman Saturday. He sold his home there and ! returned to the county farm. Leonard Oortheys Is improving, af ter his sick spell. William F. Duun is very much im proved. Miss Anna Dunn spent Sunday and Monday in tAshland visiting friends. Carl Davis was taken seriously ill Saturday. He was taken to Portland Saturday evening, where he will un dergo a serious operation. The Christian Ladies' Aid held an apron sale and supper Saturday even ing. They said it was a great suc cess. They made about forty dol lars. Mr. and Mrs. P. Vandersluis en tertained Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wako man and Miss Annette and Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Burgan in honor of Mrs. L. A. Riley and Miss Gladys Riley of St. Cloud, Minn, tl was a regular St. Cloud reunion, as all those pres ent were from St. Cloud, Minn. Miss Margaret Ames has been ill ror tne past few days, hut all iicr friends are glad to know that she is rapidly improving. Mrs. I. S. Wilson, who visited friends in Medford last week, is now with her sister and family, Mrs. Bowen of Jacksonville. Miss Anna Bailey is visiting at the Joe Wilson home in Ashland. Fred Roscncrans and Elbert Hil man of Ashland have purchased a piece of timber from Bill Kerby. They expect to move on it and start improving it soon. E. L. Mrs. Frank Denham's mother, of Ashland, is now with her. She ex pects to stay for some time. Mrs. J. W. Bailey spcut Sunday In Ashland. Mrs. Guches and daughter. Miss Blanche, visited the Laurel Hill school Monday afternoon. Mrs. Pretcher of Medford visited at the J. 11. Withrow home Tuesday. Fred Daugherty left for Canada Tuesday afternoon, where he has ac cepted a position with A. C. Randall, formerly of the Talent Orchard Com pany. Mrs. O. Walters Is repairing her home by having a new porch put on it. The Olympic Society of the Talent school met Friday. There were sev eral committees appointed for the purpose of arranging for the field meet which is to be held May 14. AH tne girls were appointed on a com mittee to solicit for the picnic din ner with the aid of the Community Club, which will bo held in the Wid ner grove, which is not far distant from the school. There was also a vote of thanks extended to Mrs. Hogue of Ashland, who painted their curtain for them, which was used at the cantata lust Friday evening.
