County Records Show Cupid Has lleen itusy This Year. Notwithstanding the fact that this is presidential year and times are supposed to be a trifle cramped, Dan Cupid is enjoying a very busy season. During the present month he has causej 21 couples to apply at the county clerk's office for a license to live happily ever afterward. June, the bride's month, was rep hesented by 29, while May had but 18. The entire year to date has caused 142 to take the happy route, which is in excess of the number un til the same date last year. Examination of the county mar riage record shows that In sunny southern Oregon the chosen month for nuptial events is December lnr stead of June. From this It is fair to assume that with the present lead the record for marriages in Jackson county will be broken during 1912. DUST STORM HITS CITY. Wind Also Mows Down Ti-ees and Wires in Pendleton. Pendleton, Ore. One of the worst dust storms experienced here In some time occurred Saturday after several days of very hot weather. A heavy thunder shower followed the dust storm, which cleared the atmosphere. Many farmers are in the midst of harvesting and the rain will not only deter operations, but to some extent cause damage. High winds accom panied the storm, blowing down limbs of trees and telephone and elec tric wires. A hailstorm is reported at Bend. If it Is Tidings work it is the best.
