’j’jE A shland T I DINGS ÜUDAV................................ AND N\>R ::^;roriT. Sometime ago it was announced through the T idings that the Ash land Academy propertv was about to p?jss into the po session of the M. E. '48enterenee and that school wo# to be opened in Septi .uber. At that time the property had not been transferred to t in* Conference, but thefriends <rt tlie-movement to secure it for the M. E. Church had enough of tin* amount necr'sirv to a purchase subscribed to place the matter beyond-a peradventur»*, as they thought, and to warrant th»*m in making the announcement men tioned. Since that time much ap prehension has bem felt that the Academy would he allowed to be idle during another season. Now, however, we can assure our read ers that lhe opening of the school next September under able man agement is positivelv assured. On Monday evening lust, at a meeting of citizens held in the Academy building, it was made known that of lhe $3,700 to be raised before the building could be bought $900 was still wanting. Qf this amount nearly $100 was raised before the meeting adjourned and the remainder by noon oil Tuesday. The actual <1 s of the property will be soon as one-third ol the amount is collected, which may b* done at any time without lhe slight, difficult v- 'lhe management oi the msti tion was placed by lhe last Qu terly Conference (which met Tuesday) in the hands ol board of trustees consisting oi following named gentlemen: Pi L. A full cm ps of competent assistants will sup port the President, and in due time the regular announcement oi the opening ol the colleire wili appear, with such informal ion as may be desired by those who may contemplate availing themselves of its advantages.
