When the contes tants were Introduced, Anderson mode a little speech In which he assured us that he had come down to win this match fairly and squarely. This pleased the crowd and made everyone feel sort of acquainted with him. The crowd assured film a square deal by their applause. At this point AI (Kid) Sanders insisted upon challenging the winner for $100, winner to take all, in spite of the statement by Miller in last weeks Leader that he would lis ten to no challenges made before the match and would then give preferenc? to anyone proposed by Thye. HOMELIKE ACCOMODATIONS COMFORTABLE, SPACIOUS LOBBY AND THE HOME OF THE FAMOU8 Arthur H. Meyers Manage R s places amazed evon the old devotee's of the game. The first fall went to Anderson In 32 minutes flat, by a head scissors with the right arm also in the scissors and a bar, but not wim- out himself being m danger several times. After a ten minute rest they came back both looking fresh and In 16 minutes and 30 seconds Miller 'had a full Nelson which placed Anderson in such a position that he conceded the fall. It was unfortunate that the referee at tills time was watching for the usual roll over that comes with a full Nelson and failed to notice that Miller also had a leg block on Ander son and the noise made by the crowd drowned out the patting of Anderson's hands on the mat This placed An derson In a very precarious position and badly strained his neck, which could have been avoided, but a ref eree is only human and did the best ho knew how. The men had no more than reached their corners than An derson asked Miller thru the referee to eliminate the rest period as his neck was getting stiff. This Miller agreed to do although both still breathed very hard. They Immedi ately went to the mat Miller getting another full Neleon in two minutes, and 45 seconds. Anderson at once conceded the fall, not caring to take any chances with his neck. The match throughout was honestly and squarely fought by both contes tants end the referee had very little to do. The falls were clean and with out a chance to contest any of the de cisions. A very great deal Is due D S. Avery who organized and managed the affair and In whom it fs very ap parent Ted Thye has a great deal of confidence. Avery assures us we will here from him again shortly as he intends to keep right on the trail of that hundred dollars. It is rumored that the real name of Anderson is Hagar and that he Is the Middle West champion and con sidered one of the cleverest wrestlers In the world. Some boy that Charlie! Remarks of the ringside: Anderson: "Ho is the strongest man for his weight I ever met." Avery: "BRING HIM HOME JIM- M!!E, BRING HIM HOME!" Anderson: ,rV1hat the h does that guy dq to get that grip? The Crowd: "Milk cows!" Miller, Jr.: "Como on MlUer, Come on Miller!" Mrs. Fowler: "Get out of the way Pat!" Thye: "Take your time .Jlmmie, don't make any mistakes!" Avery: "If you do Jlmmie you'll make a tramp out of me!" After the match Miller's backers immediately hunted up Sanders, to ac cept his challenge, (Thye not having offered to send in another man). San ders very readily admitted he had changed his mind after ceelng the matcU, agreeing that Miller was the better man and offered to give Charlie one hundred dollars rather than go on the tut with htm. This seemed to satisfy Miller's supporters who agree that a match between Miller and Sanders would create too much ill feeling at this time. Charlie Miller Is sure putting Lin coln county on the map. We would all like to be inside the Multnomah Club room when Thye tells them about this match. Chesley Lumber Company, o I. O. 0. F. ANNIVERSARY. N 88 deg. 36 min. E., 11.92 cho; to corner No. 1.
