I INCOLN COUNTY LEADER, TOLEDO, OREGON, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 18th, 1921
PACE THREE
Wanted : A National Policeman-
The farmer does not get enough money for th3 food ho
sells; but the consumer, who buys it, pays too much.
It is high time that Uncle Sam constituteckhimself
a policeman to protect both producer and consumer.
If he keeps the in-between boys from raiding the
Public-Food melon patch, the producer will no longer
have to put up with so small a return and, what is
just as important, the public will net have to p::y ex
orbitant prices for food.
The Farm Bureaus, expressing tho
minds of the organized farmers of
America, are setting out, to convince '
Uncle Sam that he must act. It is
only by national mobilization that
the fanners can hope to secure action
on this and other questions whose
solution vitally affects the future cf
our farming industry. T' Frm

Children, too weak to walk, are carried in their mothers' arms to the American Jewish Relief clinics in Poland.
The faces of mothers and children alike are lined deep with suffering, privation and disease brought on by five years
f 'TWsphotograph, typical of 3,500,000 child victims of war and famine, slowly dying in Eastern and Central Europe,
was taken at Lodz. Food is the only cure that most of them need. Without it they must perish. America is the only
'land to which they can look for the faintest hope of life. No food can be had from their own countries sooner than
the harvests of 1921. Starvation is daily taking toll by the hundreds. Every dollar to be given to the European Relief
Council's $33 000,000 fund, now being raised, must be given immediately. Starvation knows no delay.
Contributions should be made through local committees or Franklin K. Lane, treasurer of the Council, 42 Broadway,
