Carl Tangen's uncle from Marsh-
field who was here last week visiting,
departed Monday for Washington
where ho will visit for a time.
The heavy wind of Tuesday night
broke one of the large windows out of
the front of the Lincoln County Bank
Building, In the room occupied by the
Phone Company.
"Ding" Informs us that he must give
possession of the building occupied
bv his confectionery by February 1st,
and that he will close out his stork at
once. Read his add in this issue.
Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Smith and son,
Dem3ter, arrived In Toledo last week,
from California and will make their
home here. For the present they are
stopping with Mrs. Demitt.
R. L. Wildman of Gaston' has been
employed as teacher in the Stanton
District, for the school maintained on
the Upper Depoe. Miss Helga Larson
teaches the school on the Olalla side.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Beck departed
Tuesday for Sheridan where they will
make their home, having recently
traded their ranch here for one near
that place.
D. L. Chesley the sawmillman re
turned last evening from Portland
where he has been at the bedside of
Mrs. Chesley the past two weeks. He
reports Mrs. Chesley as slightly in
proved. ;
Anthony Brown tore his collar bone
loose while playing basket ball Wed
nesday evening. Dr. Burgess found it
necessary to give him chlorforni to
relax the muscles so be could set it
back In place.
Mr3. Viola Barnett of California,
who has been visiting with her sister,
Mrs. A. L. Oglesbee, in this city, de
parted yesterday for Salem where she
will visit her parents before returning
to her home.
Dr. Linton of Waldport was In the
city yesterday being enroute to Sa
lem. The Doctor banded us a copy of
his latest book "The Storm's Gift,"
we will tell you more about it after we
have read it.

C. W. Meyer this week concluded tlio
deal for the purchase of the Earl Nye
bungalow on Enderly street, which
was recently vacated by Postmaster
Gaither. Mr. and Mr;. Meyer expect
to occupy mo same' soon.
Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Steamen ar
rived down from Portland last Satur
day evening and have been stopping
at the Lincoln. Mr. Stegmun is con
nected with the Pacific Spruce Co.,
who recently purchased the govern
ment mill here, and will be In charge
of the construction work. Construc
tion work on the mill is expected to be
resumed about the first of February.
