Miss Margaret Ferr returned home
from Portland Sunday evening, where
she has been the past several weeks.

first of the week enroute home from a
trip to the Five Rivers country.

Grays Harbor, Wash., where they will

Congressman W. C. Hawley passed
thru to Newport Wednesday evening
where he delivered an address. Ho

home at Deer Island Sunday, after
spending a week with Mr. and Mrs.
G. B. McCluskey in this city.
A. L. Crawford of Corvallis. formerly
Siletz, was in the city Sunday. Mr.
Crawford has a game foot as the re
sult of stepping on a nail.
D. L. Chesley was called to Corval
lis Sunday by the illness of his wife
Mrs. Chesley is having he"r tonsils re
moved at the Corvallis hospital.
Assessor A. G. Schwartz was a pas
senger for Portland Saturday. Mr,
Schwartz will attend a meeting of the
assessors of the state at Salem before
returning.
Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Schenck and son
Geo., Jr., arrived home from Portland
Sunday afternoon. We understand
that George,, Jr., will vote the Repub
ucan ticket straight next Tuesday.
Ex-Judge John Fogarty and wi
were passengers for their home at
Newport Tuesday evening. Mr. Fo-
garty who was confined to his bed at
the Lincoln Hotel here is gradually Im
proving, and it is to be hoped that he
will be completely recovered in
short time.

We are recently in receipt of a
bundle of Cleveland, Ohio, papers, car
rying the writeups and pictures of
the World Series, which were played
In that city. Same were sunt by
Homer Hershey, formerly of Nashville
but who is now at Cleveland undergo
ing treatment for his back. Mr. Her
shey fell rnd broke his back about a
year ago, anu late reports indicate
that he is gradually improving.
O. V. Hurt of Corvallis was In the
city Tuesday noon enroute home from
a trip to the South part of the county.
Mr. Hurt was here In the interests of
Robert N. Stanfteld's candidacy for
Senator, and says that everything
looks verv favorable to Mr. Stanfield
and predicts that he will he elected
by a good substantial majority.
Bert Howe and J. E. Cooter were In
the south end of the County the flrBt
or the week on a hunting trip. Mr.
Cooter could only stay one day and
did not get anything, but Mr. Howe
managed to bag a few, and brought
nome one line buck.
R. S. Van Cleve received a letter
this week from Arnold Hawklnson,
who was here with the Srruce produc
tion, being stationed at Camp A. Mr.
Hawklnson is now County Agent at
Glencoe, Minn. He says he often
thinks of Toledo and would like to
come back and see the many friends
he made while here. He sent his per
sonal regards to them.
