students of the Ruse Lodge regions
according to H. C. Seymour, State
Club Leader of Oregon. In this sec
tion two or throe very strong and live
county clubs have been developed and
the community bousts of several
county winners. The Boys' and GirU'
club work aim to teach achievement
and to develop leaders to the end that
they nuiy assist in the betterment of
the community, county, state and na
tion. The Roys' end Girls' club work is
a permanent educational organization
conducted by the extension Bervice
of the college and the United States
department of education. Tho object
of this claas of work is to interest the
bays and girls in farm and home activ
ities, to train their hands nnd minds
by productive employment.
White the college gives- all the as
sistance possible in the formation of
these clubs, it in necessary that local
leaders be developed to carry out the
work of organization.
One of the most efficient leaders of
the state is Mrs. Mattie Carr of Weld
port During the present school year
she has organized three clubs, a poul
try club, girls cooking club and a gard
en club. Each of these clubs promises
to make a good showing and it is
hoped , that many of their members
will be represented in the industrial
contests for the Oregon boys and girls
to be conducted at the Oregon State
