MNCfUN COUNTY LEADER, FRIDAY. OCTOBER 26th, 1917. ROCK CREEK Continued the best fruit sections. Apples, prunes and ail kinds of small fruits do exceptionally well here. This year Charles Bruner sup plied the whole Siletz Valley with prunes, and he will probab ly do the same with apples as the apple crop i'i Siletz Valley Is almost a failure. Mr. Bruner has a small orchard of about two acres of apples, and it Is no exaggeration to say there are at least 500 bushels of apples in the orchard. Our school is progressing nicely under the management of Miss Eudelle Bethers. Dr. Albert Carey's family moved to Portland last week. Henry Scott, the Rock Creek humorist has returned from an extended visit in the Willamette Valley. Leonard Crawford's family has arrived from The Dalles and they arc now comfortably dom iciled in t he Wigle house. Mrs. R. J. Morrison is visiting her son in Dallas. FIECLES CREEK C. F. Lindley is at Racks Creek. Z. A. Kcssl went to Toledo on business. Ira Wade and Clarke Cope land visited at T. J. Buford's. Judge Miller with F. L. Mul vany visited Sweet Home and Racks Creek in the interests of roads. Albert and Tantus Lake visit ed M. E. Walker. UPPER BEAVER Mrs. A. Peterson and daugh ters, Lena and Josephine visited Mrs. P. Vancil, Thursday. Jes3 Clifford, George Booth, Edith Mowers and Maude Ver mun came in Friday for a visit at the v aacu home. Mr. and Mrs. II. G. Rhoades and family, K. D. Martin and Miss Deila Trapp made a trip to Toledo Saturday. Pete Peterson came in Satur day for a visit with home folks, returning to the Valley again Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. II. G. Rhoades and family were guests at the u. tu. Lewis home Sunday. Christine Peterson of Oyster ville visited home folks Sunday. Jesse Clifford and George Booth visited at the Peterson home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Peterson and children spent Sunday evening at the Rhoades home. Ediths Mowers, Maude Ven- num, Johse Clifford and Delia Trapp called at the Rhoades home Tuesday evening. H. G. Rhoades. G. E. Lewis. Jess Clifford and Mrs. A. Peter son were tradir.g in Yaquina and Newport Wednesday. J. J. Redfield returned from Portland last evening. Terrence Gaither was over from Corvallis Sunday. Lon Dundon returned Friday evening from a visit to the Val ley. Miss Annie Hawkins was a passenger for Newport last evening. Henry Scott came down from his ranch on Upper Rock Creek last evening. G. S. Fitzpatrick is building, a fine new house on his ranch on the Lower Siletz. Miss Eleanor Grady returned last Thursday evening from a visit at .Portland. Jim Derrick was doing some surveying; in the east part of the county this week. Ted McElwain returned Fri day evening from a trip to Cal gary, Alberta, Canada. Warren Hall and family were visiting with Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Arnold In this city Sunday. Alex Hasvol arrived over from Silverton the first of the week and is visiting Toledo friends. Attorney G. B. McCluskey re turned last Friday evening from a business visit to Portland. Carl Davis of Siletz shipped two car loads of tan bark to the Albany Tannery Tuesday. Mrs. G. B. McCluskey visited with Mr. and Mrs. C. 0. Hawkins at Newport the latter part of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Gabriel of Harris were visiting the latter's father, R. L. McFarland, here the first of the week. J. E.
