A LETTER FROM CANADA

Dear Editor
Again I ask a little space In
your paper. We have now been
in Canada two months and like
this country fine. It is getting
cooler here now and as It has
been raining for a few days we

for a great crop until cutting
time when one afternoon Alber

worst hail storms in its history.
From Lethbridge to North of
Calgary and a ten mile wide
strip, nothing was left. We were
just on the edge, and one mile
south of us was not touched,
but where we were living the
man lost from 85 to 100 per cent
of his crop. He had just cut
wheat one half day. It seems
terrible when your years work
Is gone in ten of fifteen minutes.
Hail stone's layed on the grounu
four or five inches deen. We
started out with the threshing

hailed out territory but have
had rain and are laid up now for
a day or so. Wage's are very
high here. Men In the fields arc
getting $4.50 and board; engine
and separator men more accora
Ingly. Cooks on the big rigs
are getting from seven to nine
dollars while in smaller ones
they get $5.00 per day, with a

former place. He will enroll as
a student in the local high school
next Monday.
George Record left for Stroms

He was accompanied by his

C. E. Brown, the Corvallls
