OPPORTUNITY
It Ib estimated that Limoln County
has IS billion feet of standing timber,
covering 160000 acres or over 206
square miles, tills at a stumpage value
of $1.00 would be worth $1000000.00
or If cut into lumber at an average
price of 8.00 per thousand would be
worth oHy four million dollars.
From the above figures it is easy
to ascertain that the actual timber
owners would receivo about one eighth
of the lumber valuation and the bal
ance or seven eights would be paid for
labor and Bupplies.
At' the present time our big natural
resource, TIMBER, is in an absolute
dormant state, no sale, cutting or mov
ing of this vast tonnage.
The tonnage, over three hundred and
fifty million tons, this would mean a
tonnuge of say one hundred car loads
of lumber a day for the C. & E. Ry., for
several hundred years or ship tonnage
dally of a million feet per 'day for over
fifty years.
It is very essential to move this tmv
ber, to have It manufactured Into lum
ber and put upon the market, from the
fact that a large percentage of same
Is over ripe and Is depreciating In
value and not Increasing.
Now what can we do to help our
selves simply line up at the polls on
May 1st. and vote yes for the Improve
ment of the Yaqulna Bay Harbor by en
larging both -the Newport and the To
ledo Port Districts; with this question
settled our assessable property In Lin
coln County Instead of being approxi
mately ten million dollars as It is to
day, would be over twenty five million
dollars In the next two years, why be
cause timber and farm laudu would be
sold, a Coast road would be built, a
Railroad built to the timber, saw mills
erected, losing camps In operatlou,
an enormous increase in our farm prod
ucts, a home market at enhanced
values, no end to prosperity and plenty
for everybody.

benefit to the North end of the County
and the beauty of all this change Is
that the rancher, lubortr and mechanic
