The train and boat service will bo much better than ever before this year. This Bervlce with outo travel that will come to New port and the sea coast will make it the best year we have ever had. No place along the Oregon coast can enmnnrn with v,. nort as a seaside resort. W nr free from fog, have a splendid view of both bay and ocean and the table can be supplied almost the entire year with all kinds of sea foods and the roads ex tend to the Siletz, Beaver Creek, Drift Creek, Elk City and other points where nutocs can go with out any trouble in the summer season. Nature has made this an ideal resort and no amount of artificial decoration and work will bring any other resort on the Oregon coact equal to this. Why we were left out In lo cating the roads to be built In Oregon by the proposed bond Is sue of $0,000,000, I can't un derstand. At the Pomona Grange held last week at Eddy ville a res olution was unanimously passed asking our leprcsentatives ln tha last Legislature, Hon. Hand ley and Fuller why they did not try to get a hard surface road located from the Valley through Lincoln county to the coast. Til lamook got two roads leading into that county and Coos cpunty got two also and we were left out and as everyone knows, it is easier and cheaper to build a hard Burface road to Lincoln county than any other place along the coast range of mountains. Another resolution "-".u. River and Jackson counties. It l estimated that the cost of the work including, paving in those counties will be close to $4,000,. 000, leaving but $200,000 for paving in all the other counties, You can figure this out and see if it is not true. The millage tax of one-fourth mill iB to be i taken with the auto licenses, to nav the interest on the bonda. In the 28 years that the bonds will run, the taxpayers will pay with the one-fourth mill tax, in terest and principal on bonds to the amount of $5,280,000, over $2,000,000 will be Interest. If additional bond issues were not needed to complete the paving 11 C08t tne taxpayers over $5,000,000, but as additional bond Issues will have to be made, aU the Merest and principal must be paid by the taxpayers In the counties other tnan tn08e named above, are required to make the grade, drainage and foundation at their own expense and the state Is to do the paving, ln Oregon it costs more to make hl grade and foundation than , It does to do the paving. ! ALL IS FAIR -:... IN LOVE. AND WAR At least that Is the way the saying goes but President W. M. Berry, of the Lincoln County Fair Board, sava. "Don't tnlir war, because we may not have war; iaiit 'air, Decause we are sure going jo have a hummer of a fair this coming September." And, by the way, if you ex pect to carry of many first prizes you should be paving the way to the prize row now, by planting some things especially for exhi bition purposes. Lincoln coun ty cannot be beat when it comes to growing vegetables and gar den sass, and we expect to see some new records made at the coming Fair. A meeting of the Fair Board was held last Friday in this city and the matter of moving the fair buildings waa discussed. It Is thought perhaps that the best way to get the buildings moved, is to tear them down and rebuild them on the new grounds. The plan of the main exhibit building will probably be altered, being made wider and with a higher ceiling, bo that it can be used for at hletic games as well as an exhibition hall. The question of flnauces to go ahead with this work Is now confronting the board and they will call on the Grange, Civic Club. Athlothlc Club, merchants and farmers for aid. The board is open for sug gest Ions and will welcome any thing that will aid them with their problem.
