Lincoln County Leader,
Dear Editor.
' Having missed a copy of your
Interesting edition, I am prompt
ed to write the following.
We are located very comfort
ably here on the Coquillo River
in sight of the entrance to the
ocean. Things seem to be
booming' here, there has been
eight sTiips in here since last
Thursday, bringing supplies and
loading lumber and matchwood.
We had a big storm the last few
days. It was kind unough to
throw in front of our house a
fine lot of white cedar for wood.
Wishing you and my many
friends luck, and hoping to see
your welcome paper next week,
lam,
Most truly,

another salesman. A. A. Hale,
another knight of the grip is on
the list and Joe Snow, also of
Portland, is a frequent caller, lu
an effort to offset this combina

IT KICKED BACKWARDS
Recently a merchant of Nat
chez happened to see a farmer
receive a box at the depot and
noticed that It came from a mall
order house. He also noticed
that the goods were right in his
line and the same as he had car-
nea ior years. He Immediately
approached the farmer and said:
"I could have sold you tho
goods you have here for les3
money than the Chicago housoj
and saved you the freight."
"Then why don't you do so?'
said the farmer. "I have taken
the local paper for a year and
have not seen a line about you
selling these or any other goods.
This mail order home sends ad
vertising matter to me asking
for my trade, and they get It. If
you have any bargains why dou't
you put them In the paper bo we
