Hay den MB Clerk. special election to vote Bonds At the meeting of the City Council Monday evening an or dinance was passed by the Coun cil caluie; a special election for August 5th, for the purpose of voting on the question of selling more bonds for the purposes as follows: The re-location of the pipeline around the tldeland; the building of an additional reservoir adjacent to the pres ent reservoir; the installing of a pumping plant near the I. F. Iliser farm on Mill Creek; the taking up of the $6000 issue of bonds issued in 1911 for the pur chase of the water works of the Toledo Water and Electric Co. The ordinance provides for the issuance of $16,000 worth of bonds to be used by the council for the foregoing purposes. Should the entire amount not be required to pay for the work the bonds will not be all sold. o L. M. Starr h,ad business at Newport last Saturday. Howell went to Corvallis last Saturday to be in attendance at a meeting of the alumni at O. A. C. He returned Sunday on the excur sion train. Frank Falcon came down from Portland Saturday evening and spent Sunday with his family near this city. Mr. Falcon has the position as janitor in the Ore- gpnian building. Mrs. J. F. Stewart and daugh ter, Nellie, left on the train Wed nesday morning for the Valley. They will join Mr. Stewart out side and continue on to Port land, the latter leaving here by auto the same morning. John Anderson informs us that he is making arrangements to smoke a considerable quanity of herring this season. Mr. An derson is an old hand at the busi ness and says that he can put up the herring In as fine a condi tion as any you buy in the mar ket. O. R.
