T. 0. SVENDSEN
FOUND DEAD
T. O. Svendsen, aged about 65
years, who lived just east of
town on OlaUa slough was found
dead at his home Tuesday after
noon by Gunrter Otaon. Mr.
Svendsen was a bachelor and
lived on hia little farm all alone.
He was not feeling well last
week d Sunday Mr. Olson was
over to see how he was getting
along, and he said he was feeling
better, that be bad been to the
drug store and had gotten some
medicine and that it had helped
him, but that he didn't have any
money to pay for the medicine.
Not having seen Svendsen
.around, Mr. Olson went again
Tuesday afternoon to see him.
He found the door locked and no
one answered his knock. Upon
looking in the window he saw
Svendsen lying on the floor.'
Gunder at once came to town
and notified Sheriff Geer, who,
with Dr. Burgess, D. B. Stuart
and F. N. Hayden at once left
for the Svendsen farm,
Merchant Walter Hall and
wife of Siletz were over In their
auto yesterday.
Miss Leffle Davidson of Port
land is visiting here" with her
friend, Miss Elma Waugh.
Born, Sunday, August 8th, to
Mr. and Mrs. Fay Plank, In this
city, an eight pound girl.
The Messrs. Cassadav are now
painting the cpurthouse on the
outside which adds greatly to its
appearance..
Mrs. Jos. Blower and daugh

port this, morning for a visit at
the Robertson home.

who returned to her home at

nesday evening for a visit at the

Mr. Young is a brother of Mrs.
Miller, and is superintendent of
the B. & M. shops at Lincoln.

NEWPORT GRANTED
WATER RIGHT
The state engineer has gran
ted a permit to U.e City of New
port for the use of 24 cubic feet
of the waters of. Spencer creek
for municipal water supply. The
works will consist of a dam nine
feet high, 301 feet long, to be
built of loose rock and earth fill
with concrete core. The esti
mated cpst is $24,000. The dam
will be located in section 34,
township 9 south, range 11 west,
and the pipeline will be 10 miles

eral weeks, returned last Tues
day evening. Although far
from being well his condition Is
much improved.

from K. C. Egbert, former super
intendent at Slktz, states that
he has decided to accept the po
sition of county agent of San
dusky county, Ohio, and will
soon take up the work there.
