Several of the Toledo Band
boys have been assisting the
Newport band in entertaining
the Oddfellows and Rebekahs
grand lodges In convention in
Newport this week.
' James McDonald, the bee man
tells us that the drone bees are
eating all the honey this season.
Those who have bees had better
catch the drones and destroy
them or they will have no honey.
O. G. Dalaba, formerly of To
ledo and Elk City, but now, of
Portland, was in the city last
Saturday shaking hands with old
friends. Mr. Dalaba will remain
in this section for about two
weeks.
Gus Ridgeway of Yaquina was
tried in Justice Court here Tues
day, charged with assault and
battery upon his wife. He was
found guilty and fined $25 and
costs, being unable to pay the
fine is spending twelve days In
the county Jail.
The Southern Pacific rail
road company has just Issued a
most attractive booklet "Oregon
Outdoors.' The oooklet 1b pro
fuse with Illustrations of scenes
of the different sections of the
state.' It is certainly a beauti
ful work and everyone should
pio' uve a copy and send it to
friends in the East.
The Moose dance given at
Oddfellows hall here last Friday
night was one of the big events
In the amusement line in this
city. Some two hundred people
enjoyed a full night of dancing.

Band orchestra, - assisted by
Messrs. J. W." Pickens and It. C.
Collier of Newport and A. C.
Frelhelt, bass and trombone
player, of Portland, was certain-
